Home Depot hardship program
Can a Home Depot Hardship Program Help With Credit Card Payments?
A Home Depot hardship program or other payment-assistance arrangement may be worth exploring when your Home Depot Consumer Credit Card payment has become difficult to manage.
The Home Depot Consumer Credit Card is issued by Citi. Therefore,
cardholders experiencing financial difficulty should contact Citi
to ask what hardship or payment-assistance options may currently be
available for their account.
However, help with one Home Depot card may not solve a larger debt
problem. If you also owe money to several other credit card companies,
nonprofit credit counseling can help you review your total debt,
monthly payments and household budget.

HOME DEPOT / CITI PAYMENT ASSISTANCE
How to Ask About a Home Depot Hardship Program
If you expect difficulty making your Home Depot credit card payment,
contact Citi and explain what has changed financially. Ask whether
Home Depot payment assistance, hardship assistance
or another repayment option may currently be available for your account.
Citi does not publish one Home Depot hardship arrangement that
guarantees identical terms for every cardholder. Therefore, ask
the representative to explain any account-specific offer before
you agree to it.

HOME DEPOT DMP PAYMENT ESTIMATE
Estimate Your Home Depot DMP Payment and APR
Use the calculator below to compare your current Home Depot
Consumer Credit Card balance, APR and minimum payment with
estimated Debt Management Program terms.
Because The Home Depot Consumer Credit Card is issued by Citi,
select Citibank from the creditor dropdown.
Then enter your current balance, APR and minimum monthly payment.
Calculator results are estimates for educational purposes.
Actual Citi participation, APR, monthly payment, creditor concessions
and account eligibility depend on current creditor guidelines and
the individual account. Completing this calculator does not enroll
you in a Debt Management Program.
HOME DEPOT FINANCIAL HARDSHIP
How Does a Home Depot Hardship Program Work?
A Home Depot credit card hardship arrangement
would generally be handled by Citi because Citi issues The Home
Depot Consumer Credit Card.
Citi's general consumer guidance explains that credit card
hardship programs may sometimes involve options such as a
temporary payment pause, reduced interest rate, waived late fees
or a lower minimum payment.
However, those are examples of possible hardship-program features,
not guaranteed Home Depot terms. Your individual account status,
financial circumstances and Citi's current policies determine
what assistance may actually be offered.
Before accepting an arrangement:
Confirm the monthly payment, APR, fees, program duration,
account status and what happens when the hardship arrangement ends.
HOME DEPOT PROMOTIONAL FINANCING
Special Financing Is Different From the Home Depot Hardship Program
The Home Depot Consumer Credit Card offers promotional financing
on certain purchases. However, promotional financing should not be
confused with a Home Depot hardship program.
Citi currently advertises six-month financing on qualifying
Home Depot purchases of $299 or more. Home Depot also periodically
offers longer promotional financing, including offers of up to
24 months on qualifying purchases.
Many of these offers use deferred interest. That means interest
accrues from the purchase date. If the promotional purchase
balance is not paid in full before the promotion expires, the
accrued interest can be charged to the account.
6 MONTHS
Everyday Promotional Financing
Qualifying Home Depot purchases of $299 or more may receive six-month promotional financing under current card terms.
UP TO 24
Special Promotions
Home Depot and Citi may offer longer promotional financing during selected promotions on qualifying purchases.
IMPORTANT
Deferred Interest Deadline
If the promotional balance is not paid in full within the promotional period, interest can be charged from the original purchase date.QUESTIONS TO ASK CITI
3 Questions to Ask About the Home Depot Hardship Program
1
What Will My Monthly Payment Be?
Confirm the exact required payment, when the new payment begins and whether it changes again later.
2
Will My APR or Fees Change?

3

Three Ways to Address Home Depot Credit Card Debt
Your next step depends on the Home Depot balance, APR,
promotional financing, household budget and whether this is your
only significant credit card debt or one of several accounts.
1
Work Directly With Citi
If your Home Depot card is the primary account creating payment pressure, ask Citi which account-specific assistance options may currently be available.
2
Continue Paying on Your Own
If your budget allows it, consider increasing your payment, especially when a deferred-interest promotional deadline is approaching. Calculate Your Payoff Time →
3
Review a Debt Management Program
If several credit cards are straining your budget, nonprofit credit counseling may provide a coordinated repayment strategy for eligible accounts.LOOK AT YOUR TOTAL CREDIT CARD DEBT
When a Home Depot Hardship Program May Not Be Enough
A Home Depot hardship program may improve one
credit card payment without solving a larger monthly cash-flow
problem.
If you also have balances with several other creditors,
nonprofit credit counseling can help you review eligible accounts
together rather than negotiating separate repayment arrangements
one creditor at a time.

HOME DEPOT DEBT MANAGEMENT PROGRAM
Home Depot Hardship Program or a Debt Management Program?
Direct Citi assistance focuses on your Home Depot credit card.
A nonprofit Debt Management Program can take a broader approach
when several participating creditors are creating financial pressure.
Through a DMP, eligible participating creditors may provide
concessions such as reduced interest rates or payments according
to their current creditor guidelines.
Qualifying clients generally make one scheduled program payment,
and the credit counseling organization distributes funds to
participating creditors.
A traditional DMP is not another debt-consolidation loan.
Instead, eligible balances are repaid through a structured
repayment program without borrowing additional money.
Home Depot debt management program eligibility
and final terms depend on the individual Citi account and current
creditor guidelines.

COMPARE THE TWO APPROACHES
Home Depot / Citi Hardship Assistance vs. a Debt Management Program
Both approaches may help with payment pressure, but they address
different financial situations. The main distinction is whether
you need help with one Citi-issued Home Depot account or several
eligible creditors.
| Feature | Home Depot / Citi Assistance | Debt Management Program |
|---|---|---|
| Who provides it? | Citi | Nonprofit credit counseling agency |
| Accounts addressed | Home Depot Consumer Credit Card | Multiple eligible participating creditors may be included |
| New loan required? | No | No |
| Monthly payment changes? | Depends on account-specific assistance | Depends on participating-creditor guidelines |
| APR changes? | Confirm any offered terms directly with Citi | Eligible creditors may provide reduced APRs |
| Promotional financing? | Existing promotions may affect the account | Review promotional balances before enrollment |
| Budget and debt review? | Not the primary purpose | Included in the nonprofit counseling process |
| Multiple creditors? | Generally focused on the Home Depot account | Multiple qualifying accounts may be coordinated |
