We’re a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization

The IRS determined DebtWave to be a nonprofit organization in 2001. We are tax-exempt under Internal Revenue Code (IRS) Section 501(c)3. We are a private non-operating foundation as defined under IRS 509(a). The fact that we are a nonprofit organization allows our clients to obtain benefits such as lower interest rates and lower payments from hundreds of creditors.

We’re accredited by the San Diego BBB

The San Diego Better Business Bureau (BBB) continues to ensure DebtWave Credit Counseling, Inc. meets its accreditation standards, which includes a commitment to make a good faith effort to resolve any consumer complaints. We currently have an A+ rating with many stellar reviews.

Certified Credit Counselors

Our credit counselors are certified through the Center for Financial Certification. To become certified, our credit counselors must pass the Certified Personal Finance Counselor exam with a minimum score of 70 percent. Additionally, our certified counselors are required to take a minimum of 16 hours of continuing education courses in order to renew their certification biennially, including two hours solely dedicated to ethics for financial counselors.

Our company is ISO Certified through BSI

The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) is an independent, non-governmental, international organization that develops standards to ensure the quality, safety, and efficiency of products, services, and systems.

ISO Certification is handled by third-parties, in our case, the British Standards Institution (BSI). BSI conducts regular checks on our system to ensure consistency and standards are followed.

State Licensing and Registration

DebtWave is currently licensed and/or registered to do business in 46 states including Washington D.C. Many states performing regular audits and/or examinations to verify we are meeting their standards.
